Jerusalem to Tel Aviv

What whiplash I’ve experienced in the past 24 hours.

From the drab, long black skirts, sensible shoes and headscarves of the religious in Jerusalem to chic boutiques and edgy fashions in Tel Aviv.

From the conflict in Hebron to standing on a street corner in Tel Aviv looking at a Christmas tree, listening to the mu’azzin calling the Muslim faithful to prayer, while surrounded by stores with Hebrew signs.

From hearing about Israeli military oppression (per the West Bank Palestinians) to visiting Yad Vashem, being reminded of the horrors of the Holocaust and of why the existence of the State of Israel is so vital.
